About Us

The Flying Skin Cancer Doctor is a family owned business owned and was created by Dr Alan Jones, inspired by his love for surgery, flying and a massive need for rural and remote skin cancer services. Joined by his Mother and Sister, this business has its ownership and operations principally driven by doctors, underwritten by evidence based medicine in the field of Skin Cancer Medicine.

Our Mission

The Flying Skin Cancer Doctor is a network of highly skilled Skin Cancer Physicians who travel to regional, rural and remote locations delivering a start to finish skin cancer diagnostic and treatment service to patients and clients at a high risk of developing skin cancer.

Currently, in rural and remote areas, skin cancer medicine is delivered by local general practitioners and local hospitals. Unfortunately, these areas, which are in fact often areas with the highest risk, are massively under serviced by doctors and indeed by doctors with expertise in skin cancer diagnostic and surgical management skills.

Our goal is to detect skin cancer early, in particular melanoma, which can be life threatening. Ultimately, we aim to preserve the lives of those affected by skin cancer and promote prevention and skills in self detection of skin cancer. Due to our expertise and our ability to treat on the spot, we will be able to avoid unnecessary referral to regional and capital city health services.

Through working with local, state and federal governments, employers and community organisations, we establish temporary skin cancer clinics in local communities, nursing homes  and on site in workplaces. Through commercial and private aircraft charter, we can travel to any location. Funding will be sourced where possible through these organisations such that an affordable service can be brought to where it is needed most.

High Risk Groups:

  • Communities under serviced by doctors
  • Age over 50
  • Farming communities
  • Fishing communities
  • Communities where outdoor leisure activity is popular ie coastal towns, beaches, outdoor sports, surfing etc
  • Communities where employment is focused in sun exposed areas ie mining, farming, construction, landscaping, council workers etc
