This month, our first New South Wales community clinics got off to a flying start in Collarenebri, Walgett and Lightning Ridge. It’s the start of what we hope to be many more in regional and rural communities.
It marks an exciting milestone for our small Aussie business, which has travelled a long way since Dr Alan ran the first skin cancer community clinics in Blackall and Tambo in Queensland in August 2017. One day we will calculate the kilometres! In the meantime, our small team is busy servicing over 30 rural and regional communities, most in Queensland.
Our clinics in New South Wales also almost didn’t happen. With record rainfall over the past week, the airports and roads we planned to use were underwater. But thankfully, the team doesn’t give up easily. If we’ve promised we’ll do something, we do it! Come hell or high water. With advice from the local health services, we adjusted our travel and accommodation plans. Dr Dan and Registered Nurse Tara made it to all three towns to perform skin cancer checks and treatments.
We look forward to heading back to rural and regional communities in New South Wales so that local people do not have to travel to receive professional skin cancer checks and treatment. Thanks to everyone who came to see our team, tested our services for the first time or helped us on the ground to make these first clinics happen!
